Generally, wood fired saunas are exclusively for use outdoors as the chimney and clearance requirements make it a hassle to install indoors. They are perfect at cottages or lake houses where you may not want to run power, like right next to the lake, or over rocky ground. Woodstoves take up significantly more space than electric heaters, so we recommend a minimum of 7 x 7 for wood fired saunas, whether you’re ordering a prefab unit or a liner kit.
